Biography
Samuel González is a percussionist driven by curiosity, rhythm, and the desire to connect through sound. Originally from the Canary Islands, his musical path has taken him across Europe, blending classical precision with the energy of his roots.
He began his journey studying Classical Percussion at the Conservartorio de las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain). Later, he continued his bacherlor studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (Wales, U.K.), one of Europe’s most prestigious conservatoires. After, he conclude a degree in Music Education at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain), which allowed him to balance his passion for performing with a commitment to teaching. To further deepen his artistry, he completed a Master’s in Percussion Performance at the Prins Claus Conservatorium (Nederlands), where he explored the delicate dialogue between performer and audience.
Samuel’s versatility shines through his love for both Latin percussion and drum set, instruments he grew up playing. This blend of worlds — classical and popular, structured and spontaneous — gives his music a distinctive color and expressive range.
He is currently involved in several exciting projects, such as Clarimba Duo, alongside bass clarinetist Femke van der Begh, and Classic Meet Jazz Group, where he collaborates with pianist Bea Galán to bridge the gap between classical music and jazz.
As a freelance musician, Samuel has performed with seceral orchestral such as Noord Nederlands Orkest (NNO), Noordpool Orkest (NO) or Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria (OFGC); participated in various Latin music ensembles, and developed his own creative ventures like El Holandés Errante. His career reflects an openness to all kinds of music and a constant search for meaningful artistic dialogue.
Through his performances and teaching, Samuel continues to share his passion for rhythm, creativity, and connection — inspiring new generations of musicians along the way.
